Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

Effective date: October 20, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy governs your use of Orient Name (中文名工坊). It replaces the earlier version that covered AI image generation, a feature this site no longer provides. By using the service you agree to the rules below.

1. What the service does

We produce Chinese name recommendations, cultural explanations, and the name posters drawn for you on our own servers. Those posters are composed from typefaces and layouts we license or own; we do not use a third-party image-generation model, and we do not host or distribute images uploaded by other people.

2. Prohibited uses

  1. Unlawful use: using the service for anything illegal under the laws that apply to you.
  2. Automated scraping: crawling, harvesting or bulk-downloading the surname database, character library or name corpus, or otherwise extracting data at a rate that degrades the service for others.
  3. Bypassing payment: probing, replaying or circumventing the unlock mechanism, sharing unlock credentials, or reselling unlocked content.
  4. Resale as a competing service: republishing our recommendations or explanations as your own paid product.
  5. Abusive input: entering text intended to produce slurs, hate symbols, threats or harassment, or attempting to make the service output such content.
  6. Impersonation: presenting a name we recommend as an official legal-name change, a government registration, or an endorsement by any authority.
  7. Attacking the service: denial-of-service attempts, unauthorised access, or exploitation of vulnerabilities (please report them to us instead).

3. Content standards

Names and explanations we produce are cultural and educational material. They must not be presented as medical, legal, financial or religious advice, and must not be used to mislead a third party about a person's identity, ethnicity or origin.

4. Reporting

To report a violation, email [email protected] with the URL or a description of the behaviour and the rule you believe was broken. Reports are handled confidentially; you may report anonymously.

5. Enforcement

Depending on severity and repetition, a violation may result in a warning, removal of the offending content, rate-limiting, temporary suspension, or permanent termination of the account without refund. Unlawful conduct may be reported to the competent authorities.

We may update this AUP; continued use of the service after an update constitutes acceptance of it.
